London, one of the world’s great capitals, is famous for its history, culture, shopping, dinning and, of course, its theater. Sample the varied sights of London that invite endless exploration: Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge on the River Thames, the National Gallery, the Tate Gallery, Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. While London is a walking city, it also claims one of the most efficient and convenient public transportation systems in Europe. The underground, or “tube”, traverses the city. Trafalgar Square makes a good starting point. Travel through Piccadilly Circus, the core of London, then see the 17th and 18th century squares of Bloomsbury. Meander through Regent’s Park and Hampstead, on to the streets of the city’s lovely residential areas in Knightsbridge and Belgravia, or further north through Mayfair. Stop at a café in Covent Garden or Soho.
